Povo

Bahia origins from an african and european mix of colors, flavors, sounds and cultures.

The Baianas are proud of their tropical state, and they feel proud to show the nice attractions to the visitors: the nature and the spectacular beaches, people, music, parties, religious traditions, capoeira, colonial architecture and the diversified cuisine of the region.

The music is famous in the whole world for cheering listeners up with contagious rhythms, which creatively and daringly explore the mix of regional talents and foreign influences, generating the flavor and fun of the people. This is present in the daily lives of every Brazilian – on the streets, at bars and at home -, and in popular, regional and even religious parties.

Popular parties like Carnival drives huge crowds through the streets of Salvador, to dance to the music of “trios elétricos” (trucks carrying PA systems and live music). Bahia musicality is also found in religious celebrations.

And after so much singing and dancing, nothing can be better than recover one’s energies, then a icecold beer or gurana. And that mixture, Brazilians know better than any other people. Also the variety of flavors in the state is rich, specialties like “tapioca” (a manioc pie), “carne de sol” (sun dried cow meat) or the “acarajé” (deepfried Afro-Brazilian sandwich with shrimps and other seasonings).
