Visitors arrive on regular or charter flights from many countries at the international airport in the state capital Salvador, which just has been expanded to be able to handle six million passagers a year.

Other important tourism regions in the state have airports as well, such as Porto Seguro, Ilhéus and Valenca /Morro de Saö Paulo. which can receive international charter flights-

Lencois - the gateway to the Chapada Diamantina National Park, Barreiras, Paulo Afonso and Caravelas also have airports.

In addition, It's possible to arrive on connections from other Brazilian cities. By sea, cruise ships make port in Salvador, Porto Seguro and Ilhéus, and for smaller vessels, there is a variety pf marinas and docking sites all along the coast of Bahia.

Travelling by car is getting more and more popular and nomerous bus companies offer daily service throughout the state.
