By Land
Travelling by car is an increasingly popular option and numerous bus companies offer daily services throughout the state. Bahia’s two main north-south highways are the BR-116 and the BR-101 that, together with the state’s extensive network of paved roads, link all the main cities of interest for the tourist.

Brazilians drive with a road culture of their own. We recommend that you insurance and basic language understanding in place before you navigate through the traffic.

Buses
Interstate buses departs and arrive at the central bus station (Rodoviária) near Shopping Iguatemi Centre.

Most of the buses are very comfortable, with air condition, reasonable priced and departs on time. On longer distances it’s definitely worth buying a seat for sleeping or at least not pick the most low priced fares on the board.
