•  If you need police assistance, contact Delegacia de Proteção ao Turista – Deltur, and Policia Militar – CIA de Policia Turística, with stations located in the Historic City Center. These agencies have qualified personnel, who are able to deal with any threat to the safety of tourists.
•  In case of lost or missing papers, DELTUR will notify Banks, Travel agencies, Consulates, etc.
•  Keep your luggage always close to you, especially portable items.
•  Do not exchange currency with unknown people. Go directly to Banks or Currency exchange houses.
•  Always leave your room door at the reception of the hotel, and keep your Guest card in a safe place.
•  Do not open your room door without checking carefully who is it.
•  Keep the door locked at all times.
•  Keep valuable items in the safe of the hotel.
•  Try to conceal photographic and video cameras in places where there are crowds.
•  Don’t take jewels and large sums of cash with you.
